Text Diff — Overview

About this tool

What is Text Diff?

Text Diff Checker is a simple, non-AI utility designed to compare two versions of text and clearly highlight the differences between them. It enables users to quickly identify what has been added, removed, or modified between an original version and an updated version of content. This is particularly useful when tracking revisions, reviewing edits, or validating changes in documents, code, or written content.

The interface is highly intuitive and purpose-built for comparison. It includes two side-by-side input panels—one for the original text and one for the updated version. Once both texts are entered, the tool generates a visual comparison view that highlights differences in color-coded format. Additions are typically shown in green, while deletions appear in red, making it easy to spot changes at a glance.

Because Text Diff Checker is a **non-AI tool**, it does not interpret meaning or generate suggestions. Instead, it relies on rule-based comparison logic to analyze text line by line and present a precise breakdown of differences. This ensures accuracy, consistency, and predictable results for every comparison.

What it does

What does Text Diff do?

Text Diff Checker compares two blocks of text and visually highlights the differences between them. It helps users understand exactly what has changed without manually scanning or re-reading entire documents.

  • Displays original and updated versions in parallel
  • Highlights newly added text in the updated version
  • Identifies text that was deleted from the original version
  • Breaks down changes at the line level for better clarity
  • Uses clear visual cues (e.g., green for additions, red for removals)
  • Displays counts such as “+ added” and “– removed”
How to use

How to use Text Diff

  1. 1
    Enter the Original Text

Paste or type the original version of your text into the **left input panel**. This represents the baseline or earlier version.

  2. 2
    Enter the Updated Text

Paste or type the revised or updated text into the **right input panel**. This is the version you want to compare against the original.

  3. 3
    View the Differences

As soon as both text fields are populated, the tool automatically generates a comparison view below. Differences are highlighted using color-coded formatting: - **Green sections** indicate added content - **Red sections** indicate removed content

  4. 4
    Analyze the Summary

Review the summary indicators (e.g., “+2 added”, “–2 removed”) to get a quick overview of how many changes were made.

  5. 5
    Review Line-by-Line Changes

Scroll through the comparison output to examine differences in detail. The tool presents aligned blocks so you can see exactly how each line has evolved.

  6. 6
    Copy or Apply Changes

Use the insights gained from the comparison to finalize edits, validate updates, or communicate revisions. You can manually copy content from either version as needed.
