Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The re-encode uses your browser's own video decoder and recorder. The file never leaves your device and nothing is stored once you close the tab.

Why does it take as long as the video is?

The clip is played through once while being re-recorded, so a two-minute video takes roughly two minutes. Keep the tab visible — browsers throttle background tabs.

Where your browser can record MP4 (Safari and recent Chrome builds) you get MP4. Otherwise you get WebM, which plays in every modern browser, on Android and in VLC. Set the file aside as WebM or re-encode on a Mac if you specifically need MP4.

How much smaller will it be?

Typically 60–90% for phone footage at 720p, and more for screen recordings. Already-compressed short clips save less.

Does the quality drop?

Some, yes — that is how compression works. At the Balanced preset most people can't tell the difference on a phone screen. Keep your original until you've checked the result.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit, but very long or 4K files are memory-hungry. On a phone, stick to clips of a few minutes.
