Will converting reduce my image quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless — nothing is lost. Converting to JPG, WebP or AVIF re-encodes the image, so there is some loss, controlled by the quality slider. Above about 85% the difference is invisible to the eye on virtually all photographs.

Why did my PNG get bigger when I converted it to PNG?

PNG compression varies by encoder. Re-encoding an already well-optimised PNG can produce a slightly larger file. If size is your goal, convert to WebP instead.

Why is AVIF greyed out?

Your browser can't encode AVIF. Support is still uneven, so the tool tests it on load and disables the option rather than handing you a file that isn't really AVIF. WebP is supported nearly everywhere and gets you most of the same benefit.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Conversion runs inside your browser tab using the HTML Canvas API. The image data never leaves your device, and nothing is stored once you close the tab.

Is there a file size or count limit?
